Lauterach / Bremen, July 29, 2020. Gebrüder Weiss has taken over large parts of the operational business of Ipsen Logistics. The globally active logistics company has thereby increased its presence in Germany and, at the same time, expanded its global Air & Sea network to include national companies in Belgium, Poland, and Malaysia. The acquisition is subject to the approval of the antitrust authorities and the necessary approval procedures. It has been agreed not to disclose the purchase price. Ipsen’s national companies in Morocco and Algeria continue to be cooperation partners in the GW network, but remain unaffected by the acquisition; the same applies to Ipsen Industrial Packing in Bremen.

After a tendering procedure, the Board of Directors of the Port of Zeebrugge has decided to assign the concession for the towage services for the Port of Zeebrugge to Boluda Towage Europe. This contract has a duration of five years and starts on the 1st of January 2021.
In the first semester of 2020, the total traffic in Zeebrugge grows with 14.5% compared to the same period last year. In total, 25.1 million tonnes of cargo was handled. The sectors that show the most growth are liquid bulk (LNG: +148%), container traffics (+14%) and the solid bulk (+32%). Although the port of Zeebrugge stayed 100% operational during the COVID-19 crisis, the roll-on/roll-of traffics and the passenger movements experienced a decrease during this semester.
