The sponsorship will be used to help fund the development of the Seafarers Happy-at-Sea App, which helps track seafarer welfare, book chaplain visits and order medicine. Overall, the campaign has raised £600,000 from 18 maritime organisations for the Mission.

Paris, 01 October—Following an extensive global consultation, UNESCO on 30 September submitted a draft recommendation on Open Science to its 193 Member States, a major step in facilitating international cooperation and universal access to scientific knowledge.
The European Commission has proposed awarding 102 million euros in funding to the Porthos project. The Porthos project centres on the capture and storage of CO2 in the North Sea floor. If the European Parliament endorses this proposal, Europe will bear a substantial share of the investment in Porthos, which totals 450 to 500 million euros.
