Presentation on NEVA 2013 and TRANSTEC 2014 Exhibitions

On 4 October 2012, ExpoForum, Dolphin Exhibitions, and Transtec Neva Exhibitions will unveil the NEVA 2013 and TRANSTEC 2014 maritime and transportation exhibitions. The presentation will be held during the 3rd International Ports and Shipping Conference, which will take place during the TRANSTEC 2012 exhibition at Lenexpo.

The TRANSTEC 2012 Exhibition and 3rd International Ports and Shipping Conference are being held with the support of the Maritime Collegium of the Government of Russia; the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation; Rosmorport; the Transport Committee of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs; the Coordinating Council on Trans-Siberian Transportation; the Association of Sea Commercial Ports; and the Union of Russian Shipowners. A number of sessions have been organised by the Krylov Shipbuilding Research Institute; the St Petersburg State University of Waterway Communications; the Search and Rescue Equipment and Technology Association; the Federal Navigation and Hydrography Research Institute; the Automation Committee of the Association of Sea Commercial Ports; the Euro–Asian Transport Union; and the Maritime Council of the Government of St Petersburg. The main organiser is the Central Marine Research and Design Institute.

In preparation for the Conference, the organisers have signed a general partnership agreement with the North-Western Transport Union. The exhibition organisers have previously signed similar agreements with the Association of Sea Commercial Ports of the Russian Federation; the N. S. Solomenko Institute of Transportation Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences; and the Russian Association of Oil and Gas Equipment Producers. This joint development of TRANSTEC 2012 and of the future NEVA 2013 and TRANSTEC 2014 events will enable the following:

  • To demonstrate the full range of advantages of creating a Unified All Russian Transportation System that will service national import/export shipments and international Europe–Asia cargo routes in Russia’s north-western regions.
  • To demonstrate the quality of transportation services throughout Russia and the competitive edge of Russian cargo carriers; evaluate the present course and future prospects of implementing Russian State Programmes in the transportation sector, as well as consistency in the actions of state, public, and commercial structures aimed at creating the basis for national and international cargo shipments.
  • To promote a positive image of Russia’s transport industry by holding transportation forums which will effectively exhibit the present condition of Russia’s transportation services market and its future outlook.

A study conducted by Dolphin Exhibitions, the company responsible for the participation of international exhibitors in the events, shows that future growth of offshore oil and gas production, as well as the uninterrupted transportation of supplies in the Arctic, Black Sea, and Caspian Basins, requires the creation of large-scale infrastructure to support offshore production. The main thrust of this work must be directed towards integrating advanced international technologies in the construction and modernisation of maritime port and shipping infrastructure, as well as the construction of an offshore fleet. Another decisive factor is the integration of cutting-edge logistics technologies.

Consequently the organisers of TRANSTEC 2012, the NEVA 2013 and TRANSTEC 2014 exhibitions and conferences plan to expand thematic sections dedicated to the maritime equipment which will open up the ocean and continental shelf, gas and oil tankers, ice class ships, drilling platforms, and marine transportation of oil and natural gas. This will serve as an incentive for leading multinational corporations to take part in the event.

The NEVA convention and exhibition project was spearheaded by the Ministry of Shipbuilding Industry and the Ministry of Merchant Marine of the Soviet Union in 1991. Today, it remains one of the world’s leading international civilian maritime exhibitions and conferences. More than 850 companies from 45 countries will take part in the convention. The exhibition will host 17 national pavilions and expositions organised with the support of the national governments of participating countries, export councils, and marine industry associations. Companies from Germany, France, Holland, Denmark, Finland, Turkey, Portugal, Italy, China, Korea, Greece, Spain, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Russia, the USA, Ukraine, Croatia, Sweden, Estonia, and Japan will all have stands at the exhibition. Germany’s participation at a national level will include the 3rd Germany–Russia Shipbuilding Forum. The Forum was first successfully held during the NEVA 2011 Exhibition. Partners of the event will include the Community of European Shipyards Associations (CESA), the United States Coast Guard/Automated Mutual Assistance Vessel Rescue System (USCG/AMVER), the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), the VDMA/VSM (Germany), the Holland Marine Equipment Association, Norwegian Partners Marine, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China, UBI France, the Taiwan Shipbuilding Corporation, and the Ministry of Economy of Turkey.

The NEVA Exhibitions have traditionally been held under the aegis of the Maritime Collegium of the Government of Russia, and have enjoyed the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation; the Department for Shipbuilding and Offshore Technology of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation; Rosmorrechflot (Russian Agency of Sea and River Transport); Roshydromet; the Maritime Council of the Government of St Petersburg; the Union of Oil and Gas Equipment Producers; the Union of Russian Shipowners; the Association of Sea Commercial Ports; the Association of Shipping Companies; the N. S. Solomenko Institute of Transportation Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences; the St Petersburg State University of Waterway Communications; and the Krylov Shipbuilding Research Institute. Since 2009, the NEVA Exhibition has been held with the support of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation and the United Shipbuilding Corporation.

The international NEVA and TRANSTEC events hold great strategic importance, not only for St Petersburg, but also for the wider Russian and international maritime community, industry experts, the business community, and ExpoForum as one of Europe’s leading exhibition operators. These events will provide a powerful incentive to improve the maritime and transportation industries, and will have a significant impact on the promotion of St Petersburg as Russia’s maritime capital.

The presentation will include the unveiling of the new ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Centre; ExpoForum’s strategy for developing maritime and transportation projects; and current trends in the shipbuilding industry and in marine equipment used in ocean and continental shelf development, sea and river navigation, and sea and river ports.

The Lenexpo Exhibition Complex has traditionally hosted both the TRANSTEC Forum and the NEVA Exhibition. In accordance with the trilateral General Agreement between ExpoForum, Dolphin Exhibitions (UK), and Transtec Neva Exhibitions, which runs until 2019, the 2012 TRANSTEC Forum and the 2013 NEVA Exhibition will be the last of these events to be hosted by Lenexpo. Beginning in 2014, both events will take place at the new ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Centre, the first stage of which is scheduled for completion in 2013.
