The 5th International Exhibition for Logistics, Telematics and Transport (transport logistic China 2012) was staged successfully at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from June 5 to 7, 2012. “The logistics industry has recognized China’s potential. This is also apparent at transport logistic China, which offers more business opportunities for logistic professionals from China and abroad,” said Eugen Egetenmeir, Managing Director of Messe München International (MMI).

Covering an area of 22,000 square meters (2010: 15,000 m²), the exhibition featured 490 exhibitors (2010: 441) from 42 countries, who presented the technologies and services from all segments of the transport and logistics industry. It attracted over 15,300 trade visitors from 73 countries, i.e. an increase of 12 percent compared with the number of visitors at the last event.

The leading role of transport logistic China 2012 was underlined by high-caliber representatives from industry and politics. “Since its successful premiere in 2004, the 5th transport logistic China once again enhanced international communication and business cooperation which promote the development of the transport and logistics industry in Asia”, said Zhou Yupeng, Chairman of the Shanghai Modern Service Federation at the opening ceremony of transport logistic China.

Dr. Andreas Scheuer, Parliamentary State Secretary in the German Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development commented at the opening ceremony, “The partnership between Germany and China has taken another step forward since my last visit two years ago. The growth rates are positive and definitely prove that transport logistic China is the leading exhibition.”

490 exhibitors showcased in full their latest innovations and efficient solutions for the global movement of goods as well as domestic logistics. Among them, 167 of these exhibitors (2010: 101) came from China, a 65% increase compared with the last show. Huizai Wu, Managing Director of Vita-Wheel Holdings Ltd., stated: “It is a specialized trade fair in the logistics industry. We met a large number of target customers. The show is a professional platform providing the latest technology services and good communication opportunities.”

The exhibition also attracts numerous international participants. 9 national pavilions from the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Russia and the U.S.A. all presented their expertise in the logistics sector. Mansor Shah Wahid, Trade Commissioner, Consulate General of Malaysia, made the following statement on behalf of the Malaysian pavilion: “The participants are world class. We can see many Asian companies. In general, we think it is the right platform for Malaysia to be here.”

transport logistic China 2012 welcomed a large number of high profile visitors, in particular groups of professional visitors organized by local and international associations. Lin Lei, Country Director of Gazeley China commented: “transport logistic China 2012 attracted large numbers of visitors, many of whom came to our booth. The organizer provided a matchmaking service for exhibitors and visitors, which helped us to meet more potential customers.”

In addition to the exhibition in the halls, transport logistic China was complemented by an extensive, three-day supporting program of forums, conferences, panel discussions and workshops on a wide range of topics. And the first Forklift Idol Show onsite provided exhibitors and visitors with more interesting interactions. The First Supply Chain Innovation Award was also inaugurated at transport logistic China 2012. A total of 12 companies were honored for their excellence and innovations in the logistics sector.

The Air Cargo China exhibition, which was held as part of transport logistic China, continued to grow this year. The exhibition area expanded by 30%. Vasily Borychev, Business Development Manager of AirBridgeCargo Airlines, stated, “We met the customers we were looking for and these are mainly local customers as our core business is China. The exhibition is a perfect platform for us to stay in contact with our customers from Mainland China, Hong Kong and Singapore.”

The next transport logistic China will take place in Shanghai from June 17 to 19, 2014.
