Long-term contracted ocean freight rates are continuing their dizzying ascent, with a 4.1% climb in April leaving container shipping costs up 21.1% year-on-year, with a rise of 23.5% since December 2020.

The European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO) welcomes the adoption of the own-initiative (INI) report of TRAN-Committee Chair, Karima Delli, on technical and operational measures for more efficient and cleaner maritime transport by the European Parliament. The report was adopted with 453 votes in favour, 92 against, and 154 abstentions.

Europe’s first maritime value chain project for liquid hydrogen, Aurora, has been short-listed by ENOVA  as one of the Norwegian candidate projects for Important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI).

The board of Imperial is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement for the sale of its South American shipping business to Hidrovias do Brasil S.A., an independent integrated logistics provider focused on waterways logistics services in Latin America. The closing date of the transaction was 16 April 2021.

Right now, work is in full swing at the XSI shipyard in Xiamen, China, where one of the world’s most climate-smart vessels is  taking shape. To manage the work in the best possible way and assure quality, Viking Line has a team of some twenty employees on site. Another 200 people from different partners are also involved in the work. Viking Glory is expected to be completed in late 2021 and be launched in service in early 2022.
