The Port of Tallinn and MPG AgroProduction have cut a deal for the development of an oilseed processing and logistics complex to be erected in the Muuga Harbour.

The deal covers a cooperation and building title agreements, both signed for the duration of 99 years. The €200m-worth 50 ha-big project will comprise a plant for processing oilseeds, the necessary superstructure for handling raw materials at the quay, as well as loading facilities for rail & road-transporting both raw materials and end products to/from the new terminal.

The complex, which will occupy the plot formerly used by the now bankrupt Coal Terminal AS in the eastern part of the harbour, is scheduled to come online in 2020 at the earliest before reaching the 1.5mt/year full capacity in 2024, also at the earliest. The Port of Tallinn estimates that the new complex will add 2.5mt to Muuga Harbour’s yearly cargo turnover.

The investment is expected to create 300 direct and further 1,000 indirect jobs once it starts operating at full capacity.
