There is no time to turn inward, new ideas are not born in a vacuum
SHIFT Business Festival 2021 will start on Wednesday morning 25 August when the Hotel Kakola’s gates open to the festival audience and the festival program begins on the virtual platform Liveto.
“We have to get ready for the possibility that the coronavirus is here to stay, and business events cannot be getting canceled forever. Before we can effectively resume international events, we have to resume the national ones,” says Sini Toivonen, the CEO of the SHIFT Business Festival.
The festival organizers are expecting circa thousand participants to the festival. Out of these, some 500 will be joining the event physically in Hotel Kakola. This is less than half of the location’s full capacity, thus enabling SHIFT 2021 to be a coronavirus-safe event. The rest of the attendees will be joining the event from behind their computer screens. The SHIFT team has already got the first taste of organizing a virtual event last year when SHIFT had been organized fully virtually.
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought unprecedented challenges for the event industry and has required organizers to search for new approaches on how to make events happen. SHIFT has stepped up to the challenge for the second time and, again, successfully, found new ways to make SHIFT Business Festival happen. The SHIFT team believes that there has never been a greater need for organizing business events as is now!
Two days full of program, more than 50 top national and international experts
This year, the stage program focuses on three main program tracks: Circular Economy, AI & Digital Trust, and Food Tech. The virtual connection has enabled top international experts to join SHIFT 2021 as speakers, including the “security guru” Bruce Schneier from Harvard Kennedy School, Vatsal Mehta from Facebook, Charlotte Aschim from a Norwegian food waste prevention company TotalCtrl, and Soh Kim, the executive director of the Stanford University’s Food Design Research department.
SHIFT 2021 will also host many of the top Finnish experts, including Taavi Erkkola from UNAIDS, Jyri Arponen from the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra, and Tuuli Ahava, the digital automation leader at Nokia.
