logitrans 2013 is becoming firmly established in the logistics industry

The three-day long 7th logitrans International Transport Logistics Exhibition drew to a successful conclusion on Saturday, 23 November 2013. A total of 11,797 participants from 56 countries quizzed 206 exhibitors from 21 countries about their products and services. The increased degree of internationality and quality of the participants were especially impressive.

This was confirmed by Holger Föh, Head of Trade Fairs and Events at BLG Logistics Group in Germany: “We are exceptionally surprised by the positive growth the trade fair has experienced and can say here and now that we will be taking part again in 2014. The BLG not only recorded a large number of contacts, they were of high quality as well.” And Wido A.H. Lange, Account Manager at noy logistics in the Netherlands, was also satisfied: “logitrans 2013 exceeded our expectations. Visitor numbers were high and have a big potential.”

The top five participating countries, apart from Turkey, were – in this order – Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Austria and Lithuania. The proportion of international participants was just under 15 per cent. Mirace Irem Koyuncu, Corporate Communication Manager at Ekol Lojistik in Turkey, had this to say on the subject: “We esteem logitrans as a very beneficial platform that brings all the shareholders of the sector together, enables new cooperation opportunities and helps improve commercial relations. This year we have observed the effects of the marketing activities for the fair and the increase in visitor numbers was very satisfying for us. We believe that this number will accelerate each year.”

More than 50 per cent of the exhibitors, presenting themselves in two halls covering around 10,000 square meters, came from abroad. For the first time, there was involvement from Albania, Croatia, Lithuania and Ukraine. The top five exhibitor countries were Turkey, Germany, Italy, Austria and Latvia. Many exhibitors availed themselves of the country pavilion concept to make an initial acquaintance with the Turkish market. Among their number was Dr. Robert Schönberger, Managing Director of Logistik-Cluster Schwaben (Logistics Cluster Swabia) in Germany: “logitrans 2013 offered our companies a good opportunity on the back of the German national presence to take its first steps in the Turkish market. The “one-stop shopping” concept allied with first class support by the organizer facilitated market entry.”

New this year was the Air Cargo Pavilion, organized in cooperation with the A-Z Group. This concept was welcomed by Hasan Hatipoğlu, General Manager with Lufthansa Cargo in Turkey: ”Although it is the first time we have exhibited at logitrans, we experienced three very profitable and positive days. I strongly recommend my colleagues in the Air Cargo industry to act now to exhibit at the 2014 event.” Also Engin Mucahit Ozvar, Promotion and Advertising Manager of Turkish Cargo said: “We are glad to be a part of logitrans 2013 as Turkish Cargo. The exhibition was very profitable as a result of meetings with agents from various regions, charter requests from different business branches. The “Opportunities and Threats on Turkish Air Cargo Industry in 2014” panel that we organized during logitrans attracted great attention. Hope to see you in logitrans 2014.”

Based on a poll conducted during the trade fair, 92 per cent of exhibitors would exhibit again at logitrans 2014. The first registrations have already been received. Including Taha Kargo from Turkey. Emin Taha, the company's Board Chairman, had the following to say: “Having an important role in promoting our company in Turkey and abroad, logitrans made a significant contribution in our services this year. We will be glad to exhibit at logitrans again next year.” The companies Ceynak, Etis, Soft, ULS, Okura, Euroulak/Ulustrans, GPS-Buddy and Ulukom already approved their presence at logitrans 2014 too.

The Turkish logistics market has been experiencing increasing growth for years, offering great potential for national and international companies alike. logitrans offers a venue where people can come together and exploit this potential. That is how Murat Hatabay, Deputy General Manager at Catoni Deniz İşletmeleri in Turkey sees things as well: “logitrans has been the only international fair where we have exhibited for four consecutive years, and this indicates our trust in the significance of the event. Growing each year, logitrans has become an indispensable meeting point for us where we come together with ship owners that we represent, with our offices abroad, the service suppliers, freight forwarders and end-customers.” And Anthony Petillon, responsible for Development and Strategy at the Port of Calais in France, added: “The Port of Calais has been an exhibitor at logitrans since 2010. We appreciate this event, which is one of the rare such events where we can meet transport companies and road haulers. The Turkish market is booming and the exhibition is getting more and more professional. See you next year!”

The next logitrans International Transport Logistics Exhibition will take place in Istanbul from 20 to 22 November 2014.

logitrans 2013: expecting a successful trade fair

The 7th logitrans International Transport Logistics Exhibition will be held in the Expo Center ifm in Istanbul from 21 to 23 November. In addition to international participation and numerous Turkish exhibitors, for the first time this year there is an air cargo pavilion as well. Awaiting visitors is a wide range of products and services occupying two exhibition halls and spanning the entire logistics, telematics and transport value chain.

The air cargo pavilion is being organized in collaboration with the A-Z Group, also involved in the Munich and Shanghai trade fairs as a partner. Messe München International and EKO Fair Limited are staging logitrans as joint venture partners and this is their response to the increasing importance of the air freight sector in Turkey and its neighbors.

Germany, Italy, Latvia and Austria are again represented with their own pavilion. Austria has increased the size of its country pavilion for the second time in succession. There is a new Belgian presence, with Liege Airport, for example, showcasing itself on the Belgian stand.

Other well-known companies that have so far registered for Turkey's most important logistics trade fair, include: Ankara Logistics Hub, BITO-Lagertechnik, BLG Logistics Group, Ceynak Lojistik, Ford, Hödlmayr, Hoyer, ICL/Netlog, Imperial Logistics, Jungheinrich, Kube + Kubenz, PTV, Schenker, Kühne + Nagel and Militzer and Münch.

In the rail freight transport sector, AAE Ahaus Alstätter Eisenbahn from Switzerland, Rail Cargo Austria, Trenitalia and, for the first time, SC Grampet from Romania, are presenting their services.

Above all, however, the ports are strongly represented at the trade fair. Making their maiden appearance as exhibitors are the ports of Koper, Ravenna, Riga and Vienna. Other ports setting out their stall are bremenports, Calais, Hopaport, Italian Ports Association, Monfalcone, Nemport, Samsunport, Seaports of Niedersachsen, Ventspils and Yesilyurt.
