Last week JŪRA MOPE SEA international business magazine participated at ‘Hafenhinterland. Solutions for the Future Port Hinterland Traffic in Central Germany’ conference, organised by the Ministry of Transport and Regional Development of the state of Saxony-Anhalt.

 

 

In the first quarter of 2018, Latvia recorded the strongest real growth among European states. The seasonally adjusted rise of 5.1 percent has attracted positive interest. The reason for the good economic situation is strong domestic demand, driven by EU funded major projects, and greatly consuming private households. Goods flows in the Baltic States move not least of all via the Ports of Lübeck and Hamburg. Dr Kimmo Naski, the CEO of the Port of HaminaKotka, has been elected as the new Chairman of the Baltic Ports Organization (BPO). The vote took place during the annual event organized by the BPO, the Baltic Ports Conference, held on 6 – 7 September in Szczecin, Poland.

CEVA Logistics has successfully implemented its Matrix WMS (warehouse management system) and signed a new five year deal with Western Power, the Western Australian state Government-owned energy provider. At the international conference in Hamburg, scientists, engineers and shipbuilding experts gathered to discuss sustainable deep sea mining as well as opportunities and risks of Arctic shipping. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced industry performance statistics for 2017. Worldwide annual air passenger numbers exceeded four billion for the first time, supported by a broad-based improvement in global economic conditions and lower average airfares. At the same time, airlines connected a record number of cities worldwide, providing regular services to over 20,000 city pairs* in 2017, more than double the level of 1995.
