Following the successful start to its cooperation arrangement in 2016, the “transport logistic” Cluster at Messe München is once again taking part in the Cargo Transport Logistics (CTL). The upcoming “transport logistic India @ CTL” will be held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre Goregaon in Mumbai, the subcontinent’s most important port city, on 23 – 24 January 2018.
Experts believe that India will be one of the fastest growing economies in the world in the medium and long term. This means that the logistics requirements within the country will continue to grow. The “transport logistic India”, which attracted more than 100 exhibitors and over 3,500 visitors last time round, offers corporations the opportunity to tap into this growing market and establish operations there. The conference program also provides first-hand information on opportunities and challenges for enterprises that wish to prosper in the Indian market. As a result, the specialist exhibition represents one of the most important logistics events in the region when it comes to logistics, mobility, IT and supply chain management for Indian and international firms.
The sector’s growing potential is clearly reflected in the 2017 Agility Emerging Markets Logistics Index, among other things: More than 800 representatives of logistics corporations from around the globe classify India as the most attractive market with the greatest opportunities for growth. In the general rankings for emerging markets, China alone outperforms the subcontinent. “Sales of logistics services in India reached a figure that was the equivalent of US$ 320 billion in 2016. This means that its share of GDP was 14 percent, while the average figure in industrial nations is 8 percent,” says Thomas Hundt, Director of Germany Trade and Invest in India, explaining the situation. “Market researchers are also forecasting strong growth in all segments in the Indian transport and logistics sector.” The huge investments by the Indian government in the transport infrastructure also support this forecast: The introduction of a standard goods and services tax (GST) across the country on 1 July 2017 is designed to do away with the internal state border checks. Trucks can then move freely within India, provided that they have all the necessary licenses for this.
Willem van der Schalk, CEO of a. hartrodt GmbH, summarizes developments. “India’s economy is growing continually. It’s therefore only logical to plan a transport exhibition that is similar to those held in Munich and Shanghai – one that underlines the need for ideal infrastructure for a growing market. Where else should local and international providers obtain more information about the current market developments than at the “transport logistic India”?”
