INTERNATIONAL EVENTS. JŪRA MOPE SEA Represented Lithuanian Transport and Logistics at logitrans Exhibition

logitrans transport and logistics exhibition, organised by the German Messe München and the Turkish EKO companies, taking place in the middle of November every year, is usually participated by European and Asian transport, logistics and shipping companies, marine and air ports, as well as associations and academic institutions.

Logistics 4.0 and the New Silk Road have been the all-dominating topics at logitrans 2017, which took place in Istanbul from November 15 to 17 2017. The event was attended by 150 exhibitors and about 13,700 participants. Participants from Eurasian countries introduced their products and services, as well as official pavilions from Germany, Austria and France.

logitrans Turkey has again lived up to its reputation as the leading trade fair for logistics, telematics and transport in Eurasia, despite a challenging market environment. “The logistics market in Turkey is adapting to the new realities regarding the international demand for transparency and improved quality standards,” said Gerhard Gerritzen, Member of the Management Board at Messe München. “The region has tremendous potential as a central hub of the New Silk Road. In order to tap its full potential, all countries along its route need to meet the requirements and standards of the international market,” added Ilker Altun, General Manager of its Turkish partner EKO Fuarcilik.

logitrans participants see a lot of potential within the Turkish market, stating that it is a market full of opportunities. The country is not only a large market by itself, but also a strategic hub in the region, with its geographic location between continents as a decisive factor. The current economic growth in Turkey is invigorating the import and export market, as well as the demand for logistic services.

Representatives of Lithuanian transport business used to actively participate there as well. Kęstutis Kudzmanas, the Lithuanian diplomat, who had run the office of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Turkey, made an excellent use of the logitrans platform for strengthening the relations and cooperation between Lithuania and Turkey. The active diplomat initiated various meetings, agreement signings and conducted the bilateral dialogue. It’s hard to say, what has caused these relations to stagnate – the slightly more complex political situation in Turkey or the changed Lithuanian diplomatic corps in the country; however, this year logitrans exhibition had raised the Lithuanian flag for a single Lithuanian company – JŪRA MOPE SEA international business magazine, which, aside from else, features highlights of the issues of Lithuanian transport, the port of Klaipėda and its companies, and did its best to represent the Lithuanian transport and logistics sector.

Just like most of the recent international events, logitrans platform focused a lot of attention on the Chinese New Silk Road One Belt, One Road initiative. That topic was discussed during one of the conference sessions as well.
