CIS-Cargo - railway logistics without any border

German railway logistics company CIS-Cargo GmbH, founded in September 2004, is the only rail carrier in Sassnitz/Mukran ferry port (Germany). CIS-Cargo GmbH organizes rail freight transportation between Western Europe and the Baltic, CIS and neighboring countries, loading of freight onto wide gauge rail cars in Sassnitz/Mukran (Germany), Klaipeda, Sestokai (Lithuania), and Brest (Belarus).
There are 8 experienced and professional employees in the company's offices in Mukran, in Klaipeda - 3 employees.
Recently CIS-Cargo with its long-term partners founded a company CIS-LTR located in Baltijsk terminal (Russia). Its task is organizing and guaranteeing smoooth rail freight traffic between the ferry line Sassnitz/Mukran - Baltijsk to be opened this autumm. At present there are 2 employees in Baltijsk. CIS-Cargo is closely cooperating with the company DiRail Deutschland KG, which has the experience of many years of working in rail logistics field.

The customer always comes first

 Dirk Hein The philosophy of CIS-Cargo GmbH is based on orienting towards the needs of the customer and rendering service of high quality. The company's director Dirk Hein thinks, that basic transportation alone is not enough: "We are constantly looking for new ways to improve our service. One of our strengths is that CIS-Cargo has strong partners for every eventuality. With their help we quickly solve all possible problems rising during the cargo "journey".
The company's motto - "With CIS-Cargo - without any border" perfectly reflects the customers' geography. They are initial shippers in Eastern and Western Europe, also in USA and Canada, individual shippers (retailers, SME's), and sellers/buyers (ex-works).
CIS-Cargo employees speaking English, German, Lithuanian, and Russian for the customer's convenience are on site in Sassnitz/Mukran (Germany), Klaipeda, Sestokai (Lithuania), and Baltijsk (Russia) interchanges.
CIS-Cargo transports different machinery and equipment (tractors, cranes, excavators, agricultural equipment), project loads (breweries, brickworks, mixing plants), building constructions (e.g. for reconstruction work in Afghanistan), military goods, steel, agricultural and chemical goods.

CIS-Cargo renders the following services:

  • Plans the loading capacity for rail freight cars, issues freight offers for rail transportation and counts all freight. The company maintains direct contractual agreements with the rail companies involved, with the shipping companies and with reliable partners
  • Organizes transshipment and loading of freight onto Russian rail freight cars
    - Orders and provides rail freight cars for European track gage and broad gage (also special-purpose cars)
    - Where required, draws up loading plans and calculation procedures for excess loads and unusual shipments and has them approved by the participating rail companies
  • Implements and supports the provision of freight documents and dispatches the freight   
    - Creating commercial invoices in the required languages
    - Clearing customs
    - Creating freight documents CIM/ SMGS
    - Providing authorizations:
    - Veterinary and pest control certificates
    - Transit authorizations
    - Authorizations for transportation of dangerous goods
    - Environmental certificates
    - Authorization for transportation of military goods
  • Provides transportation-related services:
    - Temporary storage and picking
    - Transportation monitoring and handover to recipient
    - Car status information for loaded freight cars and containers
    - Goods insurance
    - Troubleshooting for the entire transportation process
